SPIDERS WITH ROBERT WHYTE

10am - 12pm

4th October

Greenbushes Community Garden, Blackwood Road

DETAILS:

Spiders might freak you out, but they are a source of fascination and admiration for Queensland honorary researcher and author Robert Whyte.
We are thrilled to have a workshop with Robert as part of the Blooming Wild Festival and to celebrate his newly released book 'A field Guide to Spiders of Australia' with the CSIRO.
Mr Whyte will be chatting to us about the making of his book, the important role of all spiders in our ecosystems, common ones in our area, how to safely catch and identify spiders, and much more. Robert’s aim is to alleviate peoples fear of these fascinating creatures.
This workshop ties in beautifully with our gardens continual education on how to protect and care for backyard biodiversity. We hope after this workshop whenever you see a spider you'll be reaching for your camera and not your shoe!
Robert’s book will be for sale on the day.
This workshop is open to all ages. Morning tea will be provided.
There's a gold coin donation entry fee. Please call Tracy on 0400 976 434 to register for catering purposes.
“it’s really important people know most spiders around their home are harmless and do such a good job of keeping your house clear of cockroaches, flies, mosquitoes and others” RW
