About the Event

After a lot of planning we are chuffed to announce a day of activities to be held at the Northcliffe Information and Visitor Centre: Blooming Science. As a part of the Blooming Wild festival, Northcliffe CRC are delivering the day of activities on Saturday 5 October, with a focus on science and creativity. You can participate in as few or as many parts of the day as you like.

Bushwalks, Plant Microscopy, Plant Pressing, expert talks by the Parks and Wildlife Service and an evening Frog Walk are just the start.

Kids' nature craft activities are being provided by the Northcliffe Family and Community Centre and we'll have free nature face painting by Tammy Messer (Colour Me Face and Body Art).

There will be a free pop-up cafe providing morning tea and we are working on finding a community group to run a pizza lunch.

Make sure you set aside the date and bring along the family. All events are free and no bookings are required ... with the exception of the Flower Pressing workshop in the afternoon.

Flower pressing! Thanks to Northcliffe Men’s Shed all participants in this workshop will go home with their own flower press. This will be stuffed with native flowers and plants, provided (legally) as part of the workshop. The workshop fee is $22. Numbers are limited and bookings are open now. If you're coming to flower pressing come along to the morning expert talks, which will have information from the Parks and Wildlife Serivce on the legalities of taking vegetation.

Our thanks to our many event partners: the list includes Northcliffe Visitor Centre, Northcliffe Men's Shed and Northcliffe Family Centre. We are expecting it to grow rapidly as we start to nail down all the details of the day and enlist help. The poster below will be updated and displayed around town as more details become available. Program (to be confirmed):

9.00am: 'Identity Crisis - Who's that plant' guided bushwalk

10.30am: 'Kids crazy creations' nature crafts

10.30am: 'Excerpts from the experts' guest speakers

11.00am: 'Up Close and Person' microscopy

1.00pm: 'Pretty as a Picture' plant pressing (numbers limited)
